Owner Dagny Amber Aslin (Amber) spent her youth showing the A circuit with success in the 3’6” Hunters and Medals across the Midwest. In 1996 she attended the University of Southern California and showed briefly as an Amateur before taking her first professional position at David Josiah’s Morning Mist Farm in Los Angeles.

After transferring to Santa Barbara to finish her degree Amber worked for several show barns in the area. She also took a position as Marketing Assistant for Daniel Encell, a Real Estate agent recently ranked 4th in the world in sales for Prudential Realty. Here Amber learned to combine print, internet and direct mail advertising to achieve a broader and more cost efficient strategy for selling a valuable asset. The similarities between selling seven-figure houses and six-figure horses became apparent, and the concept of The Exchange was born.

Amber graduated in 2002 with High Honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Holding degrees in Anthropology and Classics, she promptly opened Eohippus Training & Instruction. For two years she traveled the Southern California circuit with a select group of clients and quality horses. Her students ranged from Short Stirrup novices to accomplished Children’s Jumpers, and every aspect of the horses’ training, showing and care rested solely in her hands. It was this experience that made her realize how difficult the life of an equestrian professional was:

In 2005 The Exchange was conceived from the belief that trainers belong on horses, not cell phones and computers. Based on extensive knowledge of the hunter-jumper world and strengthened by professional experience in the marketing industry, we’ve developed a system that assists busy trainers, increases the exposure of quality hunter-jumper sale horses, and shortens listing periods so sellers make the most of their equine investments.
