Integrating American style with European effectiveness, welcome Kyle Timm & Apex Equestrian

May 05, 2014

It's a proper thing international rider Kyle Timm found a homebase at Apex Equestrian Center, just 15 minutes from the Raleigh International Airport. Not only can he easily entertain buyers from anywhere in the country, it adds just a quarter hour commute to his various international destinations.

Growing up 30 minutes from Spruce Meadows in Alberta, Canada, Kyle was bitten early by the horse bug. Riding but not competing from age 6-11 gave Kyle the foundation for quick success in the show ring and in 2003 he represented Canada in the World Childrens Jumping Championship. He competed his first FEI classes in 2006, showing against the best in the sport, and was the youngest Canadian ever to jump around the Spruce Meadows International Ring at the time.

Kyle went on to show the Grand Prix circuit in the US and represent Canada in both the 2008 & 2010 North American Young Riders Championships. Fully committed to the sport he relocated to New Zealand in 2009. He focused on the proper development of young horses and twice clinched the National 5 y.o. Championship. He also qualified 2 horses for the World Young Horse Championship in Lanaken, Belgium.

To further expand his education Kyle trained with former WEG Gold Medalist Soren von Ronne in Holstein and Pieter Kersten in The Netherlands, head of KWPN stallion approvals at the time. He has ridden and competed all over the world, including Canada, USA, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand and Japan, and was a World Cup qualifier in 2010 by invitation.

Kyle integrates the American style with European effectiveness and brings some home-grown international experience to The Exchange. He does not take on horses that need fixing but instead selects quality young talent and commits to working with them until they are ready to be sold. He maintains a strong focus on horsemanship and respects the animal as a partner. His aim at Apex Equestrian is not to simply sell horses, but to place them in quality partnerships where both horse & rider shine.
